May 19, 2017Beach Tips from a Local
May 30, 2017Memorial day kicks off summer in style as we honor our veterans, celebrate America with our friends and family, and relax on the three day weekend. In Destin, it’s not surprising that many people’s weekend plans involve boating. With so many incredible places to cruise the shores, fish, snorkel, and just hang out, boating is the perfect way to spend the day on the Gulf Coast. If you are staying in a vacation rental in Destin and are renting a boat, here are a few safe boating tips to keep in mind. From everyone at Destin Palms, we hope you have a safe and happy Memorial Day!
Check the weather and then check it again. In Florida, the weather can change at the drop of a hat. Stay weather wise and make sure you don’t get stuck out in a storm.
Use common sense. A day on the boat should be fun, but be smart. Don’t do anything to jeopardize your safety.
Wear life jackets. Every boat is equipped with life jackets, use them, especially if you have children.
Avoid alcohol. Treat your boat just like a car and have a designated driver. Even if you aren’t driving – don’t overdo it!
