Replace the White Snow with White Sand

Snow is beautiful but the white sand here in Destin looks just like snow, only we have one of the most beautiful beaches in the world and the sun to go with it!

The beach is definitely the biggest attraction for tourists and locals alike, and one of the best Destin snowbird activities 2021 is simply enjoying the beach. From sunsets, to sunrises nothing says serene like a walk down the beach while the warm air surrounds you. During the winter months here in Destin, you can avoid large crowds and traffic which is another bonus for our snowbirds!

If you want to take a dip, the gulf may be a bit too cold to swim in but nearly all condo’s and vacation rentals in the area offer heated pools for you to enjoy.

Dolph-Fun

It’s safe to say you probably don’t see too many dolphins in the North, so this could be a fun Destin snowbird activity 2021!

Where there’s dolphins, you can guarantee a great time! Head over to the Destin Harbor and hop on a dolphin cruise where you can sit back, relax, and watch as these majestic mammals ride the waves.

If boats are not your thing, no need to worry! You can still visit Flipper and friends at the Gulfarium Marine Adventure Park, located on Okaloosa Island (approx. 10 miles West of Destin). The Gulfarium has been bringing smiles and laughs to locals and visitors alike for over 60 years! You will not want to miss the amazing dolphin and sea lion shows, and you can get educated on Marine life by the informative staff.

There is so much more to be seen and experienced here in Destin, home of the magnificent dolphins!

Tee-rific Golfing on the Gulf

When visiting Destin this season, dust off your clubs because a round of golf is a great Destin snowbird activity 2021! Golfing in Destin is perfect in the winter because of the weather, which is typically in the 60’s-70’s so you won’t break too much of a sweat!

Beginner Wheel Throwing Classes – Thursdays Jan/Feb

Get crafty with this 6-week clay shaping class!

 The class is an introduction to the fundamental wheel-working skills used for shaping clay, intended for adults with little to no experience.

Students (ages 18+) will begin with learning basic techniques of centering clay, throwing cylinder forms on the wheel, trimming and glazing. The class will also cover altering and decorating thrown forms.

When you register for a 6 week course, you will receive a 25lb. bag of clay, full use of our range of glazes, firing of finished pieces and use of the studio during class time. Additional clay may be purchased from J.Leon Gallery + Studio.

Winter Wonderland at Baytowne Wharf

For those who may get homesick, Baytowne is bringing you a little piece of up North!

The Village of Baytowne Wharf’s Event Plaza is turning into a Winter Wonderland full of real snow! Sip hot cocoa, make snow angels, hit the ice rink, and enjoy a day of frosty fun! This event is free and open to the public.

Emerald Coast Theatre Presents – Florida Girl

Head to Grand Blvd. in Miramar Beach for a live theatrical show held by the Emerald Coast Theatre Company!

Florida Girls takes place in Crestview, Florida, circa 1965 and focuses on the upheaval in a middle-class family when two sisters compete in a high-school beauty pageant.  Written by celebrated local playwright Nancy Hasty, this comedy is sure to deliver on laughs, heart and lots of local charm.

32nd Annual Sandestin Gumbo Festival

For those snowbirds who will be in town still this February, you won’t want to miss the 32nd annual gumbo fest! This event will be held at the Village of Baytowne wharf on February 19th and 20th, and if you  are a food fanatic this will be a fun and unique event to attend!
